  Cooper Pedy is a unique town like no other in the world.
  
  The houses in the hills are next level, the people are great.
  
  A lot of stray dogs but other than that, an amazing place to stop and visit especially if your making your way up the Stuart Hwy,
  
  You’d be mad not to stop by.
  
  The cops are unforgiving with speed through their quiet and friendly town so beware

  This is a great place to take a photo. Please be courteous. Remember there are other people who want to take a picture with the sign so please don't park your car directly under the sign if others are waiting.

  Welcome to Coober Pedy

  This is a specific spot, and I shall review it accordingly. Unfortunately, many photos supplied by other reviewers are NOT relevant to this site.
  
  It is a vast unsealed open space. There is no shade or shelter, so it can be very hot, and windy at times.
  
  A disused truck with a bin is mounted on a platform, with the words Welcome to Coober Pedy, provides a fantastic backdrop for photo shoot - stay in an album to remind one of one's visit.
  
  At a distance around this site are pyramidal shape mounts of mullock excavated by machine or explosives. There are some interesting and yet informative sign boards alerti g people not to walk backwards in case of falling into a mine pit.
  
  This can be the top tourist attraction if a proper information centre is built, with a Cafe or barbecue faciliy. Better still, including a working model of an opal mine in a museum will draw many more visitors and just money.

  Great sign, big open space to park your car, motorcycle, caravan, and big bus. There were many cars waiting when we first visited, we waited after dinner and there is no one there. Took some nice pictures and even did a motorcycle jump next to the sign.
